Timothy Biles is the Director of Percussion for the Duncanville Independent School District. His responsibilities include teaching the beginner percussion classes, 6th-12th grade percussion ensembles, and directing the Duncanville High School drumline. He is also the percussion arranger for the marching band. Prior to his job at DISD, Tim taught private lessons, percussion ensembles, and drumlines for many school districts in the DFW area, with a number of extraordinary instructors such as Evan Blackard, Michael Lemish, Michael Huestis, Zach Scheer, Darrin Hicks, Doug Bush, and Ben Maughmer.
As a graduate of the University of North Texas, Tim was involved with the UNT Percussion ensemble, 2 O'Clock Steel Band, Concert band, Symphonic band, the Indoor Drumline, and the Green Brigade Marching Band. He was the tenor line/drumline section leader of the marching band in 2011 and 2012, and led the UNT Quad Ensemble to first place with their self-composed small ensemble at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in 2013.
Since 2010, Tim has been heavily involved in Drum Corps International, with the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps in the summer of 2010, and the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum & Bugle Corps in the summers of 2011, 2012, and 2014. The Santa Clara percussion section gave a performance at the 2012 Percussive Arts Society International Convention. He was the tenor line section leader and outstanding percussion member in the summer of 2014, with the group winning the Fred Sanford High Percussion award that year. Tim is currently on percussion staff with the Santa Clara Vanguard.
Tim resides in Arlington, TX with his wife, Alissa.
