Robert Brannock currently serves as Assistant Director of Bands and Director of Percussion Activities at Liberty High School in Frisco, Texas. Prior to his appointment at Liberty, Mr. Brannock served as Assistant Director of Bands and Director of Percussion Studies at Denton High School and an Adjunct faculty member at Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas. Under Mr. Brannock's direction, the Liberty Percussion Program garnered its first Invitational Championship in 2016 and placed a record number of students in the TMEA Region 24 All-Region Concert and Jazz Bands. During his tenure at Denton, the percussion program grew to become one of the largest 5A programs in Texas, including the nearly 50-member Bronco Drumline, Varsity and Symphonic Percussion Ensembles and the World Percussion Group. Additional honors for the Denton percussion program included several Drumline caption awards and top placements at various regional and national competitions, including the Percussive Arts Society Marching Percussion Festival. Many students in the program also earned recognition for their high level of performance, including top finishes at Percussive Arts Society individuals competitions, "Outstanding Soloist" awards and top chairs in All-Region ensembles. The Varsity Percussion Ensemble was selected as the "National Winner" in the 2016 National Percussion Honors Recording Project, named a "Commended Winner" in 2015 and was invited to perform at the 2016 Sandy Feldstein National Percussion Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Mr. Brannock's background includes positions as Director and Associate Director of Bands and Assistant Orchestra Director, as well as teaching, writing and arranging for winds, orchestra and percussion ensembles from middle school through the collegiate level that have consistently earned both state and national recognition. Some of these include the Texas and Indiana State Marching contests, Bands of America Regional Finals and Grand Nationals, the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, named both a Winter Guard International Regional Champion and Indiana Percussion Association State Champion, "Superior" Concert Band and Orchestra ratings, including "Awards of Distinction" and "All-Music Awards" from the Indiana State School Music Association, numerous Texas University Interscholastic League "Sweepstakes Awards" and several "Best in Class" awards at music festivals around the country. His students have also earned positions in the Texas and Indiana All-State Bands, the Indiana Music Educators Association Honor Band, Texas and Indiana All-District Bands, Indiana All-State Percussion Ensemble and several regional orchestras, in addition to top placements in prestigious international music competitions in Europe and the U.S. Many of Mr. Brannock's former students have gone on to receive high acclaim in music performance and teaching careers, some of which include multiple Grammy awards, recording for television and movie soundtracks, Broadway musicals. studio and touring work with several orchestras, Top 40 and Country music groups, as well as instructional staff for several drum & bugle corps, including the Cavaliers, Santa Clara Vanguard, Phantom Regiment and several high school instrumental programs around the country. Additionally, many of his students have earned positions in WGI Independent groups and Top 12 drum corps, as well as scholarships to several leading colleges of music across the United States.
Mr. Brannock holds a Masters degree in Music Performance and Conducting from the University of North Texas, where he also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the College of Music, one of the largest in the United States. His Music Education degree is from Ball State University. He has been a guest artist, conductor and clinician throughout North America, Eastern Europe and Asia. He is published with Row-Loff Productions and is currently an artist/endorser for Dynasty USA/Bergerault, D'Addario & Company-Evans/Pro-Mark, has served on the Board of Directors for the Indiana Percussion Association and as a design consultant for the Zildjian company, Rhapsody Percussion and Dynasty USA, as well as a program consultant for several middle and high school instrumental programs.
Mr. Brannock has been recognized as "Teacher of the Year," voted "Most Influential Faculty Member" by the student body and received several other commendations for excellence in education. His professional affiliations include the Percussive Arts Society, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, College Music Society, Pi Kappa Lambda, Golden Key and Kappa Delta Pi.
