MATT POWER
Matt Power is a performer and educator living in Magnolia, Texas. Matt has been involved with percussion and the marching arts since 1980. Originally from New Hampshire, Matt marched in several drum corps before spending his last 3 years as a snare drummer with the Cadets, earning the Distinguished Service award, as well as the Fred Sanford High Percussion award in 1990.
Matt has worked with some of the top drum and bugle corps in the country starting in 1992 as a caption manager, technician or consultant for many corps, such as the Bluecoats, Colts, and Crossmen. He has judged, taught and consulted for high schools, WGI and University groups all over the country from the early 90s to current day.
Matt earned his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education in 1992, followed by a Master's degree in Percussion Performance and a second Master's in Bass Performance in 1994. He then spent 30 years in the classroom (from elementary through University) before retiring to become a full time performer and consultant.
He has performed and recorded on 5 continents as a drummer or bassist with Bobby Shew, Mic Gillette, Allan Holdsworth, Richie Cole, Dr. Billy Taylor, Phil Woods, Pete and Conti Condoli, Chris Hollyday, Jay Mason, Harold Mason, Archie LeCoque, David Joyner, Steve Houghton, Thom Hannum, Pete Sapadin, Tom Aungst, Roger Carter, Guy Remonko and Jeff Holmes.
