General percussion since 1957, includes US Navy Percussionist 1970-74 Marching percussion since 1965, includes writing for and teaching the drumlines of competitive HS and university marching band, Jr and Sr D&B corps (Phantom Regiment and the University of Illinois 'Marching Illini', among others). Jim's marching focus is now exclusively on northwest Washington's '2nd Wind' 
adult drumline, which performs with Dynasty's innovative, lightweight 'Wedge' snares and 'Squint' tenors. 


In "the real world", works in technical & biomedical illustration, general graphic design, and technical editing/communications.
